Clive Stoker Website

Clive has been a massive asset to this site with his compositions. The first for our
The Word
art exhibition, where he composed music for Thomas Moore's The Weir painting and John Whitmarsh's poem of the same name.

  Post one: Resident Composer.
Clive Stocker, music recording tutor from Bath.
Karin Skold from Stockholm
Richard Markham from Hythe

Thomas Moore set up his website www.tomandjohn.com (now closed) to explore collaborations between himself as an artist, John Whitmarsh as a poet, Karin Skold as an illustrator and Clive as a composer. If you visit that site, you will see that Clive has been busy there! Thomas Moore then set up his www.greysonline.com website, to encourage older people to enjoy the internet and Clive wrote the theme for that venture.

I visited Clive in Bath along with Karin recently, when she was over from Sweden and you can see a gallery of pictures here from that (terribly serious) meeting here.

I particularly enjoyed hearing Clive's recent compositions while I was there and I had to marvel at his range! Clive is most definitely open minded and receptive to trying out many different styles of music, which has to be wonderful for his future creativity.

Clive's own website is at: Click here and you can contact him via email about his work Here.

Residency work so far:

  1. Clive has composed music for Tom Moore's hymn he wrote for his late wife. This wasn't part of the residency but it's a lovely work and well worth a mention. I saw the DVD when I was visiting Clive recently. The finished project is a credit to all of the artists involved.
  2. Clive went to Oslo during the last week in July 2004 to enjoy of the kind gift of the use of the piano in the Norwegian Academy of Music. Click here to see the page for his trip. Click here to download a clip of the beautiful Swimmers track he wrote while in Oslo.
  3. Clive came down to help us out with a gig for AMP (Access to Music Project) as Roger Weston was in hospital. Click here for the AMP page, with some images taken at the gig.
  4. Clive is currently working on a CD of music commenced while in Oslo and some DVD and mixed media projects. Click here for a sneak preview of Swimmers, a track he wrote while in Oslo.
  5. Clive is working on some music and poetry collaborations and a DVD project with art, music and poetry collections, together with some photographs.
  6. Clive has been immensely helpful with the AMP project - he has spent a great deal of time, involving his students at the City of Bath College, with specifying the best value and most useful equipment for the funding we have been given and it took 5 plans to arrive at the final phase 1 and 2 for the equipment!
  7. We are now working on some new ideas Clive has had for film scores, festivals and for performing his choral music.
  8. Clive has been working with his students on original music compositions to go with John Whitmarsh's poetry.
  9. Clive also helped Dave Fenton with original music for his Martial Arts DVD project.

More news as it happens!

El Poeta that Clive wrote for John Whitmarsh.

Clive has been working with a hypnotherapist recently and has produced the music for a CD for relaxation and empowerment.
