Cathedral Poems by Andrew Taylor out now! Press release here Order here

The Cathedral Poems were written during a residency at Liverpool Cathedral during September and October 2001.

From the Foreword by Dr. Michael Ford: Most of us remember where we were on September 11, 2001. Of all days, I was on a plane flying into Liverpool, en route to the city’s Anglican cathedral for a meeting with Andrew Taylor. That morning, as the countdown was beginning for the terrorist atrocities in the United States, Andrew and I were sitting peacefully in the refectory, conversing over a coffee about poetry and faith. We remarked on the cathedral as one of Liverpool’s great edifices, then walked silently through the building and lit candles for friends. After a meaningful time together, we ambled along Bold Street, eventually going our separate ways. We thought of each other that afternoon as we watched with incredulity events unfolding in New York City.

Extracts from magazine reviews:

Andrew's writing style did so much to enhance the Cathedral
image in my mind - Les Merton for Linkway.

Readers normally put off by poetry with a faintly religious tinge will be pleasantly surprised by Taylor's gentle epiphanies which somehow make the reader feel included, a part of the experience; this is achieved through his well-expressed, secular sense of wonder at the building he describes. - Alan Morrison for Poetry Express
