SPIEL UNLIMITED came into being after two writers, Sara-Jane Arbury and Marcus Moore, spotted each other firing on all syllables at a poetry slam in Bristol. Sara-Jane was competing for a place in the Bristol City Slam Team and Marcus was providing fun and frolics as the guest poet. The two joined forces and in 1997, they set out to take the spoken and written word anywhere and to reach hearts and hearing parts everywhere. Spiel Specials include:

* Slam!Fests Nationwide adult and youth poetry slams including the UK Allcomers Slam at Cheltenham Festival of Literature, Slam the Atom at Cheltenham Festival of Science, Oxford Allstars Slam, BirmingSlam, ‘Slam in the Slammer’ at HMP Gloucester, the annual Oxfordshire Youth Poetry Slam and events at Swindon Festival of Literature, Worcester, Taunton, Bracknell, Solihull, Reading and Newbury. All you need to slam is a heart that beats and a mind that speaks.

* Unpaged and Unplugged Live poetry gigs in prisons and pubs, schools and clubs; at farmyards and hospitals, picnics and festivals; through office spaces and garden blooms, picture houses and living rooms; around coffee-pots and shampoos, check-outs and bus queues; on cricket grounds and TV shows, racecourses and radios. Spontaneity Days where we traverse highways and byways, delivering a spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings to people who wish to receive our services as 'Emergency Poets On Call'. Living Room Poetry where homely patrons may enjoy poetic fun from the comfort of their own armchairs. Door-to-door Poetry Delivery with a difference.

* The Write Hand Commissioned pieces where our fingers do your working. A sonnet for every situation, a finger-print from your thumb-nail sketch. Your aspiration is our inspiration.

* Word Shops Customised workshops where words are on special offer. Verse-vendors and tale-traders provide guidance down the aisles of self-assurance and creative expression (shoplifters who set their own sentences particularly welcome). Children’s wordshops offer a range of activities such as creating people out of poems with balloon-heads and word-wigs, 'Disorderly Animals' where participants put the 'o' in 'pet' and become the proud owners of weird wildlife and 'Little Monsters' where we help children find the creatures behind their features.

* In Residence Breathing real life into poetry and prose by spending an extended period of time in local communities, work places and sites of special poetic interest. Familiarity breeds content.

* Informalation* Days Specialised training packages designed to stretch linguistic skills and tone up word power for professional businesses. *Informalation n. technical term denoting the use of informal language when communicating information to ensure that a ‘good write is a good read’.
